Snow Routes

In preparation for any weather-related transportation issues, Student Transportation of America has proactively created several snow routes for areas that are typically affected by inclement weather. Student and staff safety is our highest priority when weather impacts transportation.

When the weather creates potentially hazardous driving conditions, STA will drive routes to determine if buses can safely transport students to school. The district will follow its winter weather procedures in the event of inclement weather. Because conditions can change quickly, it is at the bus driver’s discretion as to whether a road is safe enough for travel. If a driver determines conditions are too dangerous, the driver will notify STA dispatchers who will communicate with families about any alternate transportation plans.

If STA needs to utilize these routes, families will be notified via our mass communication system (email, phone call, and/or text), FlashAlert, local radio and television, the district website, and the district’s social media channels.

Parents should use their own discretion regarding use of the snow routes, alternate stops, transporting students themselves, or having student(s) remain home during inclement weather.
