The Canby School District is not a choice district. A student’s legal residence and established boundary area determine school and district assignments. Please see the Clackamas County Boundary Locator for information regarding your resident district and school attendance area.
The district recognizes there may be special circumstances that arise in which a student may benefit from attendance in another school or school district outside of their resident boundary area.
In-District Transfer requests may be approved subject to the following conditions:
- Families who present a hardship
- Siblings of students currently enrolled and accepted through in-district transfer
- Adequate space is at this student’s grade level for added enrollment
The district will be OPEN for in-district transfer applications into another school within the district beginning April 1, 2022, through May 1, 2022; if approved, students must register by May 31, 2022. After this window, only requests for release due to a mid-year move or a hardship cause will be considered.
An In-District Transfer Request Form must be submitted to the principal of the resident school and the principal of the non-resident school for approval. Please allow two to three weeks for processing.
If a transfer request is approved, timely transportation becomes the sole responsibility of the parent/guardian unless the student receives services under McKinney-Vento. An approved transfer agreement is contingent upon strict adherence to all district and school policies, rules, and regulations regarding attendance (92% or greater) and behavior.
Approved transfers will be reviewed annually and reassignment to the school that serves the attendance area in which the student lives may be necessary for any subsequent year.
A one-time transfer application is needed for the requested school unless the parent/guardian wishes to change their child to a different school outside of the child’s attendance area within the district.
