CANBY SCHOOL DISTRICT DRIVER EDUCATION

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our ODOT-approved course helps teens become safer, more confident drivers through better situational awareness and lifelong safe driving habits.

Important: This is not a beginner “learn to drive” class. Students must already have basic driving experience.

Enrollment Requirements

  • Age 15–17
  • Valid Oregon Instruction Permit (permit number required at registration)
  • At least 10–15 hours of prior driving practice with a licensed adult
  • Full commitment to attend all 16 classroom sessions and all 6 in-car lessons

Attendance & Completion Policy

  • Every classroom session and in-car lesson is mandatory.
  • Missed classroom sessions must be made up in the next course session.
  • Any absences will delay (or prevent) receiving the DMV drive-test waiver.
  • Missed in-car lessons can be rescheduled for a $100 fee per lesson.
Enrollment Policy
  • All families are welcome to submit registration forms as soon as online registration opens.
  • First 48 hours: We only accept students who live in our school district and/or participate at CHS.
  • Starting Day 3: We accept out-of-district students in the exact order their forms were received (first one in gets the first open spot).

Tip for out-of-district families: Submit your registration form as early as possible. It won’t be looked at during the first 2 days, but the earlier you send it, the higher you are in line when we start accepting out-of-district students on Day 3.
