Ninety-One Celebrates Future Chef with BBQ
When Ninety-One fourth grader, Madi Bigej, won the Sodexo Future Chefs national competition, she wanted to celebrate the accomplishment with her entire school. On June 1, Ninety-One School did just that with a barbecue in Madi's honor.
Madi and her family asked if the funds Sodexo allocated for prizes could be used for a whole school celebration. So, the kitchen cooked up hamburgers and hot dogs - and of course, some of Madi's now famous Cauliflower Tots. Nutrition Services Director, Galina Dobson, arranged for all students to take home some prizes, too. Students got frisbees and water bottles as part of Sodexo's focus on the pillars of nutrition. They got to sample healthy smoothies and take home some sunflower seeds after learning about the lifecycle of plants.
Madi didn't leave empty handed, though. She won a MacBook, some cooking appliances, and even an electric scooter. Mr. Rodolph tried to convince her to let him use it as an efficient way to get around school, but Madi wouldn't allow it.
Hopefully this school-wide celebration will inspire more Future Chefs, and if not, maybe it will encourage kids to help out in the kitchen!
